Vacuuming your Area Rug will Lengthen its Life and Keep it Looking like New

The foot traffic that occurs within your home each and every day brings with it a great deal of dust, dirt and grime that is tracked into your home and onto your areas rugs. This dirt and other material will begin to pile up and sink deeply into the fibers of your area rugs. One of the biggest mistake people make when it comes to cleaning area rugs is that they begin using water and soap on the rug before they have even vacuumed it. This will do much more damage than good as the dirt will literally sink even deeper into your rug and cause permanent stains. Vacuum your rugs every day to prevent dirt and other material from gathering on its surface.

The cost to replace the carpets in any home is substantial. Most people assume that as their carpets gets old or damaged that the only option is to replace them completely and start fresh. This is an option that you can go with if you have the money set aside and can afford to have new carpets added. The cost of new carpets doesn’t end with just the carpet though – you have to also pay for the padding and installation as well. It is actually a reasonable option if you carpets are over 10 years old but another option you can go with is much more cost effective and can have your carpets looking better in less time and with much less money out of your pocket. This option is to have the carpet stretched or patched. These are both ways to improve the look of the carpet and have the carpets lasting longer.

Carpet Care 2000 outlines how carpet stretching and carpet patching can extend the life of your carpets.

Carpet Stretching Services to Remove Wrinkles

When you come home and start to notice that there are areas of the carpet that have lifted from the padding or tack strips you might need to have it stretched. You may notice small bumps and lumps in the carpet, sometimes even right in the middle of the room. The carpet may have come unattached from the securing system and has moved around so much that it is causing the carpet to bunch up. The carpet bunching can be a tripping hazard and even cause trouble when opening and closing doors. A professional that has the ability and expertise in stretching carpet can repair these issues for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. Stretching is where the technician will use specialized tools to hit the carpet and pull it from the center and over to the edges. They will be tacked back down to the edge and secured so that it should not lift up again.

Carpet Patching Service

If you have ever had someone drop some bleach, nail polish or other stain that is impossible to remove, you may need to have a patch done. If you have a pet that has scratched a hole in the carpet and caused damage that can be seen in an area that you want to look nice, you also will need to have a patch done. When the professional carpet repairman comes out and patches an area, we will often find a small closet or other inconspicuous area that a piece of carpet can be removed from. The piece that has been removed can be replaced in the damaged area and sealed so that it looks completely finished and blends in seamlessly. This is called almost invisible patchwork!

If you have a damaged piece of carpet that needs patching or a loose piece of carpet that needs stretch call Carpet Care 2000 in Tracy, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Ripon, Mountain House & Danville California Today!

Spring cleaning duties are just around the corner and it is time to get serious about making a list to get your home back in order so when the warm weather arrives you are ready to enjoy it. Winter time takes a beating on your home, as most of you and your family’s time is spent indoors, which means heavier foot traffic throughout your home, more spills, more dirt, more pet dander and everything else that comes with day to day life. Your carpet takes the brunt of all this traffic and most of the time looks quite dull and beat up when winter comes to a close. Your carpet deserves to be on that spring cleaning list just as much as the bathroom or kitchen.

Your Carpet will Smell Musty if you do Not Clean it Regularly

Your carpet not only soaks in spills and other accidents that occur during the winter, but it also holds onto smells and odors as well. Food spills that are not properly cleaned up will begin to give off a sour odor that can spread throughout your entire home. Food odors can be difficult to remove on your own and require the tools and experience of a professional carpet cleaner like Carpet Care 2000. We know exactly what it takes to remove foul food smelling odors from your carpet and get it back to smelling fresh and new once again.

Pet Carpet Odors are the Worst Kind of Smell to Linger Throughout your Rooms & Home

If you’ve got pets then you are aware that accidents do happen, no matter how well trained your four legged friend may be. At some point or another there will be an accident that happens on the carpet of your home. When animal accidents are not cleaned up immediately after they occur and are left to linger longer amounts of time, not only does your carpet risk the chance of becoming permanently stained, but the padding underneath your carpet will soak in the animal feces or urine and getting that out of the padding is almost impossible. The odor that will come from animal feces and urine from soaking into your carpet and its padding is disgusting and will fill your entire home. You will be embarrassed to have guests over because the smell will be so overwhelming. The best way to remove this awful stench from your home is to hire Carpet Care 2000 to come in and remove it.

Investing in Oriental rugs is often done with hesitation. In most cases, they adorn hardwood or tiled flooring, and they are designed to add flare and accentuate a room, while still providing comfort. With anything we choose to decorate our homes with, we still want them to last as long as possible, while serving a functional purpose.

Carpet Care 2000 has compiled some maintenance to help care for your Oriental rugs and to lengthen their longevity

1. Frequently Turn Rugs. Depending on the amount of traffic your area rug endures, depends on the frequency of rotation. Rotating the Oriental rugs help even out the wear it impacts. If the oriental rug is placed in a room where it receives little use, it can be rotated every year or two. However, if the oriental rug is in an area where it takes a beating with high volume of walking traffic and daily activity, its best to rotate them every month or couple months. Keep in mind the natural sunlight that might contribute to faded colors. If there is a lot of sun hitting your oriental rug in a slow traffic area, rotate it every few months.
2. Avoid Direct Sunlight on Rugs. As mentioned before, the sunlight can cause the dyes to fade and the rug to dry out. To help prevent dramatic fading on your Oriental rug, block out the sun as much possible. Over exposure can reduce the vibrancy and over all life span of your Oriental rug.
3. Rug Fringe Care. On Oriental rugs, the decorative fringes can become tangled and intertwined. To fix it, flip your rug upside down by grabbing one end and walking it to the other. Slightly shake the fringes loose, and while they are laid out, gently comb them out straight. While the rug is upside down, vacuum the bottom side. Make sure your vacuum is set to bare floors so that the beater bar is not turning to avoid damage.
4. Vacuum Rugs. Oriental rugs require vacuuming like any other rug or carpeting. Especially in high traffic areas, dirt and grime needs to be removed often to prevent early deterioration. Don’t forget to vacuum the less battered Oriental rug. To keep the fibers fluffed, vacuuming helps. As you did vacuuming the back side, be sure the beater bar is not rotating to prevent tears, runs and other degrees of damage.
5. Immediate Rug Spot & Stain Removal. When accidental spills happen, prompt removal is essential. Use only water to blot away stains. Due to the delicate nature of oriental rugs, if the stain does not lift away with the use of water, contact a professional to remove the stains.
6. Rug Padding. Oriental rugs are easily wrinkled and need to be more substantial. Utilize padding to contribute to better comfort and to enhance the Oriental rugs stability.
7. Avert Rug High Traffic Pathways. There is only so much space in a room, and due to the arrangement of furniture, natural pathways occur. If at all possible, rearrange the furniture to create a new pathway to prevent localized wear, and to prolong the life span.
8. Damp Clean Rugs. Every so often, it is a good idea to perform a wipe down to help collect dust and debris the vacuum may leave behind. Dampen a towel in cool water, and gently wipe down the Oriental rug to return the vibrancy.
9. Rug Airing. To help deter odors, especially from moisture, every 6 months, allow your Oriental rug to air out in the outdoors. Any time it comes into contact with moisture, it is optimal to allow it to hang outside.
10. Professional Rug Care. The professional has it’s play in regular maintenance of Oriental Rugs. Hire an expert to skillfully clean, sanitize and deodorize your Oriental rugs once a year, as often as needed to contribute to lasting longevity.

Our technicians at Carpet Care 2000 are masterfully trained and come equipped with the appropriate equipment and detergents to carefully and efficiently clean your Oriental rugs in Tracy, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Ripon, Mountain House & Danville California.

Allow us to set the scene. You have awoken on your day off, with still a full day ahead of you. If you are like millions of other folks in the world, you need that morning coffee to fuel you for the oncoming storm. The coffee is brewing, and the aroma is tantalizing the senses. Already you feel more awake. You pour your favorite blend in your mug. Adding a little of this and that of your favorite affiliates until your coffee has reached perfection. Your phone rings, you stir your concoction as your curiosity peeks, the mouthwatering goodness is inches from your mouth. Disaster strikes! You got cocky with your senses being effected with the smell of coffee too soon, and you trip over your feet. Coffee is now staining that perfectly hued carpet. After a string of emotions flitter by, with a tantrum out doing that of any toddler for the closing of the fits, you now have gathered your wits, blaming under your breath about the audacity of the foolish soul who tried to call you and cause the spill to begin with. Now it’s time to tend to the blemish before commencing your busy schedule.

Warning notes: Before treating any stain on your carpet, it is important you know what the material of your carpet is made of. Some types of fibers need specific treatments. If you are ever in doubt, call a professional for stain removal. Before attempting to remove the stain with any homemade or commercial products, always conduct a patch test in an inconspicuous are to ensure the fibers integrity or color will not be compromised.

Coffee Stain Removal from Carpet

1. To begin the process, start by placing plain white paper towels onto the stain and blot. Start on the outer edges, and work your way in to contain the stain. Never rub or scrub; doing so will only spread the stain out, and push it deeper into the carpet, creating a bigger mess.
2. Now you want to dilute the remaining coffee blemish. Either use a spray bottle or sponge, apply warm water onto the stain without over saturating. Do not use hot water as hot water can set a stain in.
3. While the water is diluting the coffee stain, prepare your solution. Combine together 1/4 tsp of mild dish detergent, or carpet shampoo, to a liter of warm water. Be sure the solution is thoroughly mixed.
4. Blot up the previous rinse with plain, white paper towels.
5. Apply your cleanser to a white, clean cloth, or paper towel liberally, but do not over saturate, damp is all you need. Place the treated towel onto the stain. Using a spoon is more optimal, but now you need to gently press the cloth onto the stain.
6. Rinse out the cleaning solution using the same method as diluting the coffee.
7. Be sure to blot up all remaining moisture.
8. Towel dry.

Tile is one of the most popular and versatile flooring options that homeowners decide on when installing new floors. Tile is very affordable and comes in a variety of colors, shapes and textures. Tile can add elegance to any room and is easily maintained if properly taken care of. While tile does have its many benefits, one common complaint homeowners who have installed tile into their home have is that the grout lines are always dirty and that it is difficult to keep them clean. It is true that the grout lines can sometimes seem like a magnet for dirt, grease and grime. If your tile is clean, but you still have dirty grout lines, your floor can give off the appearance of filth rather than beauty.

Over the Counter Cleaners Can Damage your Grout

There are specific steps you can take to keep the grout lines of your tile floor looking clean and new. Most homeowners make the initial mistake of purchasing over the counter grout cleaners for their floor. Not all grout is the same and it is not likely you will know the difference. Many over the counter chemicals will damage your grout, wearing it down and making it even more susceptible to permanent stains. Simply pouring a high volume of harsh chemicals onto your floor will not solve the problem. Your best option for keeping your grout cleaned properly is to hire a professional floor cleaning service. Professionals know the appropriate types of cleaners that are safe for your grout and will produce the best results.

A Mop Will Not Thoroughly Clean your Tile

While mops may have been the acceptable way to clean a floor years and years ago, the grout lines of your tile floor will not benefit from a mop simply being swept over them again and again. Grout lines require specific tools for a thorough and safe cleaning. While a mop is not strong enough to scrub grout lines, a steel brush will tear away the surface of your grout. It is important to become familiar with the appropriate tools necessary to appropriately clean the grout lines of your tile floor.

Vacuuming Tile & Grout

Vacuuming your tiled floors at least once a day will greatly assist in keeping your grout lines clean. Dust, dirt and grime that is allowed to build up over time can slowly seep into your grout lines, causing dark stains that can become extremely difficult to remove on your own. When you vacuum at least once a day, you are removing dust, dirt, grime and pet dander that can have a negative effect on your grout.

If you are ready to have your tile floor looking like new again, contact Carpet Care 2000 to get your grout looking new in Tracy, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Ripon, Mountain House & Danville California!

New homeowners have a long list of tasks to accomplish before moving in and often times these tasks should be performed by a professional rather than taking the job on by themselves. One of the biggest jobs a new home often requires is that of carpet installation. Installing carpet may seem as easy as simply laying the carpet down on your floor and moving on to the next item on your list, unfortunately it is nowhere close to being that easy. Carpet installation requires the skill and experience of a professional; especially if it is professional results that you desire. There are a few common mistakes that homeowners often make when they decide to install their own carpet.

Proper Carpet Installation Tools Required

While most homeowners believe that doing the job themselves will save them money, this could not be farther from the truth. The tools and equipment required to install the carpet in your home are not items you will find laying around your garage. There are specific carpet installation tools that are required to get the job done right, and they do not come cheap either. So while doing the job yourself may seem like a fun project to take on that will save you money at the same time, you are wrong. The tools you must purchase will quickly add up and you will be wishing you had a called a professional to get the job done instead.

Patterned VS Solid Wall To Wall Carpet Installation

Carpet comes in many different designs, textures and colors making it easy to decorate your home exactly the way you want. If you have chosen a patterned carpet rather than a solid color carpet, you must be aware that installation for patterned carpet requires a different strategy for proper installation. Each part of the patterned carpet must be matched up, which will require you to purchase more carpet than you would have in choosing a solid colored carpet. Many homeowners do not realize this until they are right in the middle of the installation and this can be a very frustrating experience. Hiring a professional eliminates these types of frustrations.

Layout of Floor is Important When Installing Carpet

Many homeowners who decide to take on the job of carpet installation completely dismiss the importance of knowing their floor layout before cutting the carpet for installation. The layout of your floor has a huge impact on how the carpet should be cut. The floor in your home has many different shapes and sizes and rarely will have perfectly square or rectangular corners. Homeowners that disregard the layout of their floor will most likely experience lumps and mismatched pieces of carpet throughout their home as the end result.
