Many people get motivated to work on many different areas of their life in January after they set New Years Resolutions. Weight loss, working out, eating healthy, and saving money are among the most popular resolutions that Americans set each year. Finally getting around to home improvement projects is another common goal that people set. As you work on home improvement projects you may end up with some problems that you need to solve as you work. One problem that pops up for many people is that as they paint their home, they get paint in spots that paint should not be. Frequently people accidentally get paint on their carpet. Here at Carpet Care 2000 we get frantic calls from our customers wondering how on earth they can get paint out of their carpet. If you have found yourself with this problem we have some solutions for you to try.

How to Remove Wet or Dry Paint from Carpet

First you will need to see if the paint is wet or dry on your carpet. Hopefully you have caught the paint while it is wet. All stains are easiest to clean if you catch them as soon as they happen. If you have a wet paint stain on your carpet you will want to use paper towels or a cleaning cloth to light blot the area and soak up the paint. As you soak up the paint be careful not to scrub. Scrubbing the stained area only presses the stain deeper into fibers of your carpet. If the paint has already dried on your carpet you will want to use a utility knife or pair of needle nose pliers to remove as much of the dried paint that you can. Once you have gotten the wet or dry carpet off of your carpet as much as possible move onto the next step.

What Type of Paint is Spilled on Your Carpet

Next you will want to determine what kind of paint that you are dealing with. Every different kind of paint will have a specific method that works best to get it off of places where you do not want it. You will need to know if you are working with water-based paint, latex paint, or oil-based paint. You can find this information on the paint can. Once you know what you are dealing with you can gather the correct materials for the job.

How to Get Water-Based Paint Out of Carpet

Water-based paint comes off best when you add some water to the stained area. Get some water and heat it up. Pour some on the stained area just enough to moisten the area. Add some dish soap to the area. Use a knife or pin to scrape the paint stain off of your carpet. You can add more water and soap as needed.

How to Clean Latex or Acrylic Paint from Carpet

The method for removing latex paint is very similar to removing water-based paint. Get lukewarm water and put it on the stained area. Add some dish soap to the area. Then carefully blot the area with a paper towel or clean cloth. You will want to work from the outside of the paint stain and slowly make your way to the inside of the stain.

How to Remove Oil-Based Paint

To clean oil-based paint you will want to get some paint cleaner. Apply a small amount of paint cleaner to a wet cleaning cloth. Carefully blot the area with your cloth. Oil-based paint stains take more time than other types of paint to remove. Take your time and work patiently to get the paint stain out.

Carpets require dedicated care. For the best care when it comes to carpet, the homeowner should vacuum weekly, schedule professional carpet cleaning regularly and attend to spills and stains as soon as they occur. Many homeowners work hard to keep their carpets clean and spotless. When bleach spots occur on the carpet, it can be devastating. For many the only solution is to replace their carpets or attempt some crazy DIY repair scheme. Carpet Care 2000 will share where bleach spots come from and how to properly repair the carpet.

Mysterious Bleach Spot Stains on Carpet>

Most bleach spots that occur on carpet are often easily explained as many of them occur from spills or improper use of cleaners. Cleaning solutions that are pure bleach or contain bleach or chlorine will most definitely strip out the color of the carpets. As most bleach spots are due to accidental spills or misuse, these bleach spots are easily explained. However, sometimes bleach spots have no known origin. There are some hygiene products such as foot and body creams, or acne topical medication, that contain peroxides and other chemicals that act like bleach when combined together. Sometimes bleach spots can come from these acne medications, skin and foot creams without the homeowner even realizing they are damaging their carpets. When carpet develops bleach spots they do simply look terrible. However, a professional service can help restore bleach spots on your carpets.

How to Fix Bleach Spot Stains

Bleach spots are not a true stain. Instead they are the absence of color or pigment in the carpet. As wool based carpets are dyed after manufacturing, they are more prone to color loss especially through bleach or other similar chemicals. However repairing bleach spots is simple enough for a professional bleach repair service. When repairing bleach spots a carpet specialist comes and will first inspect the stain and the current color of the carpet. After determining the carpet’s color the carpet specialist then makes sure they have the matched dye to properly repair the carpet. Once the dye mixture is prepared then the carpet specialist will clean the bleach spot and surrounding area to ensure there is no remaining substance that can interfere with the dyes. Next, the dye is applied over the bleach spot often using a dropper or small handle held sprayer similar to an air brush. In most cases the dye is applied in small amounts at a time to prevent uneven dyeing. Repairing bleach spots does not take much time to do and can help save on carpet replacements.

One of the biggest benefits that come from California is the unlimited amount of vacationing that is constantly happening. Many people make a living just by owning vacation rentals that they can lease to tourists. To successfully take advantage of the fact that this is a destination location, you need to make sure you are properly maintaining your vacation rental. Carpet Care 2000 is here to talk about why it is so important that you have the carpet in your vacation rentals cleaned by professionals on a regular basis.

Clean Vacation Rental Carpet is More Appealing to Guests

The key to you running a successful vacation home is to appeal to as many guests as possible. When your flooring is dirty and obviously hasn’t been cleaned for some time, the last thing people are going to want to do is fork out money to stay there. When you have the carpets cleaned right before guests check in for their stay, you can stay ahead of any staining that may happen from guest to guest.

Leave No Trace of Previous Guest Stains on Carpet

While the people that are renting your vacation home know that you are constantly renting this property out, they don’t want to see physical proof that someone else has been in the place. You need to wipe the space clean of the previous guests so that your new guests don’t feel like they are sharing the space with anyone else.

Remove Allergens from Carpet

More and more vacation rentals are opening up the space to guests that have pets. While this can be nice for anyone wanting to bring their furry friends along for the trip, it isn’t always welcome with open arms for others. Some guests may have allergies when it comes to these things and can experience sensitivities that will ruin their stay when allergens are removed from the space. Having your flooring cleaned by professionals will ensure that there are no allergens that are left behind.

Boost Your Vacation Rental Ratings with Clean Carpets

In the technological world that we are currently living in, it doesn’t take much to tarnish your reputation. It’s the same with vacation rentals. People are relying on good reviews from previous guests so that they have a better chance of renting the space out again. When guests walk in to a space that has been professionally cleaned, including the flooring, they will take note and leave you good reviews for it.

It seems like the holidays are full of all things sparkly. From Christmas trees, stockings and presents to Valentine’s Day cards to Mother’s Day gifts, everything is often covered in glitter to add a little extra magic. This is all well and good until these holidays are over and you are ready to be rid of the glitter until the next holiday. Sometimes it seems like nothing you do can ever completely get rid of glitter. Carpet Care 2000 is here to share some tips to help you clean up the glittery mess that comes with so many holidays throughout the year.

Cleaning Glitter Off Furniture

You may not realize your furniture is covered in glitter until the light hits it just right, or maybe you do see the mass amount of that sparkly stuff all over your furniture after Christmas is over. Glitter isn’t something that you can simply brush off of furniture. It seems to really stick to the surface no matter what you try. The best way to get it off furniture is to use a lint roller. That sticky adhesive isn’t only great at removing pet hair, but glitter as well.

How to Get Glitter Off Tile Floors

It seems like it should be easy to clean up glitter on a hard surface floor. However, when you have those little flecks sticking to the floor no matter what you do, it can be maddening. Your vacuum likely has an attachment that is made to suck up things in tight corners with a good deal of power. This is a great tool to use on your glittery floor. If that doesn’t work, you can also get a damp cloth to finish off the job.

How to Remove Glitter from Carpet

When glitter spills in your carpet, it is a nightmare to clean up. Even if you have cleaned up the majority of it, the fibers are dense in carpet that you will be able to see glitter for months after cleaning it up. To clean up glitter in your carpet, you will first need to vacuum. Make sure your vacuum has been cleaned out and will be able to work with as much power as possible as you work to clean up the glitter mess. If that doesn’t completely remove the glitter from the fibers of your carpet, you can always turn to static electricity. With the use of a rubber pair of gloves, you can rub the glove on the carpet to produce static electricity. Then you will want to rub the glove over the area with glitter and watch the stuff magically stick to it.

Household mold has been associated with many health problems, some that can be quite serious and even life-threatening, including respiratory problems, asthma attacks, pneumonia, migraines, and allergic reactions. Infants, the elderly, and those that with pre-existing health issues are most at risk, but anyone can be affected. If you have experienced water damage in your home, you need to take steps to prevent mold growth. Carpet Care 2000 offer some helpful tips below.

Tips to Prevent Mold After Leak or Other Water Damage

1. Control indoor moisture as much as possible. Mold thrives under humid conditions. The key to preventing mold and mildew growth is to control dampness. The worst water damage usually occurs in damp crawlspaces, in attics, walls where water has leaked in, and in basements that have poor drainage. When you stop leaks, ensure proper ventilation, and create a dry environment, you can do a lot to control mold and mildew.
2. Use fans that are big enough. You will also need to make sure you use fans that can properly clear out most of the moisture in the affected area.
3. Clean visible mold immediately. Any damp location can start to grow surface mold. To get rid of mold, scrub it with detergent and water and let the surface dry completely. You can also use a solution of 10 percent bleach and 90 percent water. Spray this solution on the affected areas and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then you can rinse and let it dry.
4. Use paint with mildewcide in damp areas. Once the area is ready for paint it’s important to make sure you use the right paint so you can prevent mold growth. Mildewcide paint is an effective way to control surface mold. Many paints already contain mildewcide, but you should check to make sure.
5. Stop any leaks as quickly as possible. A mold problem will get worse if you don’t stop the source of water. One plumbing leak can dump several gallons of water into your home every minute. You need to act fast and stop the leak. Shut the main water valve off and turn on the lowest faucet in your home to release any water that is likely to be in the pipes.
6. Start clean-up right away. The longer things stay wet, the more likely you are to have permanent damage. This can lead to mold problems that can cost you thousands of dollars to repair. Clean up before you try to fix anything.
7. Do not act rashly when cleaning up water damage. As quickly as you should cleanup, you should do it the right way. You may be tempted to work your way into the water and start grabbing your belongings, but you will need to take precautions as the water might be dangerous. It may contain toxic chemicals and dangerous bacteria. Plus, water and electricity together can be dangerous. Make sure the power is turned off to the area you’re cleaning.
8. Prevent the top causes of water damage. Lastly, take steps to prevent a plumbing catastrophe. Turn the main water valve off when you are going to be away for extended periods of time and use stainless steel “no-burst” hoses for your washing machine, toilets and faucets.

One of the things that seem to be on most small girls birthday and Christmas list is a slime making kit. These kits come with all you need to make a batch of slime that they can play with. The process of making slime is not complex and most kids can take on the process. There are several ways to make slime and a few different recipes. The majority of the slime making kits come with glue, some type of coloring, borax or contact solution and any additives that you want to put in your slime. These ingredients activate the solution and slime has been created. The problem is that the slime can become a major mess and when it gets on furniture, carpets and more can be troublesome. Your child’s new kit may start to seem like a bad idea when the slime slipped out of their hand and smacks on the carpet. You want to make sure that you know what to do to clean the slime off. Carpet Care 2000 outlines what you can do to remove slime out of your carpet.

Warm Water to Remove Slime from Carpet

If you want to try a very simple solution to clean the slime off your carpet you can start with warm water. The process will also include using a hard tool like a butter knife to scrape the slime off the carpet. You can use the tool to scrape away what you can then using the warm water you can rinse the area. This is a great way to prepare the area so that you can get as much of the slime off the carpet as you can.

Get Slime Out of Carpet with Rubbing Alcohol

If you are unable to get the slime off the carpet you can move up to a new cleaning solution. Rubbing alcohol is something that has a more harsh reaction and that is why you want to test it on the carpet before you start cleaning. Your office experiences a lot of foot traffic from clients, employees and other visitors. Did you know that carpets can hold approximately four times their weight in dirt or maybe more? Carpets are notorious for holding onto all kinds of dirt; from pet hair, dander, dust mites, insect feces, insect husks, dead skin cells, mold, bacteria and volatile organic compounds. That can make for some pretty dirty carpet! Carpet Care 2000 outlines some of the benefits of commercial carpet cleaning.

Clean Carpets Make a Good First Impression

The condition of your office says a lot about you and your company. Professional carpet cleaning is a good way to make a good first impression. A clean and visually appealing carpet can be very welcoming and help to improve the overall feel of your office. This will lead to repeat business and that’s good for your bottom line.

Clean Carpets Improve Air Quality

We spend a lot of time indoors. The dust, dirt, and other debris that finds its way into the carpet fibers will become airborne every time the carpet is walked on. This can cause odors and even respiratory infections. Using harsh chemicals to clean carpets can also cause unpleasant odors and other adverse health effects. Professional carpet cleaning is the only way to remove the deepest embedded debris so it can’t become airborne and inhaled. Professionals also use EPA-approved cleaning products that do not contain harsh chemicals. This will ensure that your office is free of any unpleasant odors and will also ensure that you, your employees, and clients will be breathing healthier air and that’s good for business!

Deep Cleaning Means Less Damage to Carpets

Professional carpet cleaning also means less damage to carpets. Fine abrasive particles can actually damage carpets over time, increasing wear and tear. Carpeting is your business’ best air filter. The more damaged carpets are, the more dirt they hold inside of them. This makes the air inside your office harder to breathe for employees and customers.

Low Cost of Commercial Carpet Cleaning

While it can vary, the cost for commercial carpet cleaning varies between service providers. It will also depend on the amount of carpet you need cleaned. Most companies are more than happy to provide you with a free estimate. This will allow you to do a little shopping to get the best price. The average cost will range between $0.15 to $0.35 per square foot. There is often an added fee for any stain removal and the application of stain protection. If you choose to set up regular cleaning, the service provide may lower the cost per cleaning.
