Tile and grout flooring is a durable and low-maintenance option, many commercial and residential consumers prefer to have installed. Where tile and grout can be found in many kitchens and bathrooms across the nation, it is no surprise to learn there are few common stains that can riddle the surface. How to Remove Porcelain Tile Stains

Coffee: Sprinkle baking soda over the coffee stain and use a clean, water-dampen cloth to scrub the stain clean. Be sure to use a separate water-damp cloth after the stain is dissolved to rinse any baking soda residues away.
Grease: With a strong solution of household detergent or a solution made of trisodium phosphate, dip a stiff-bristled brush to scrub in hot water and scrub the affected area. Be sure to rinse the area clean with warm water and a damp cloth.
Hard Water Deposits: To remove the soap scum and hard water deposit, sprinkle baking soda over the surface and use warm water scrub the area clean.
Mildew: Sponge a solution of 1 cup laundry bleach with 4 cups water onto the mildew. If the mildew is stubborn and resists this mixture, you may need to use a commercial mildew remover that contains sodium hypochlorite and sodium carbonate. Be sure to wear gloves and ventilate the room well.
Oil: Mix household scouring powder and water until you make a thick paste. Apply the past on the oil stain overnight. Scrub the area clean with warm water and be sure it is well-dried.
Paint: A cloth dipped in turpentine or paint thinner can remove fresh oil-based paint. Use a cloth dampened with warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid for fresh water-based paint. Once the solution is applied accordingly, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub if necessary.
Shoe Markings: Mop away the scuff marks by shoe heels and rubber burns by sneakers with a neutral floor cleaner diluted at one ounce per gallon of water. Dry well afterwards.
Tea & Fruit Juice: Combine 1 tablespoon trisodium phosphate and 4 cups hot water to make a solutions to wash the affected area. Follow the treatment with 3 tablespoons laundry bleach with 4 cups of water. Use a water-dampen cloth to rinse the surface.

Additional Porcelain Tile Cleaning Tips

1) Before you use any detergent or chemicals, be sure to complete a patch test on a small, inconspicuous are of the tile and grout to ensure it does not compromise.
2) Only use commercial products and the above dilution as directed, higher concentrations can be challenging to rinse clean.
3) Let the described mixtures above set for 5-10 minutes, unless otherwise directed to optimize results.
4) Use a nylon pad or a bristle brush for scrubbing, avoid harsh abrasive scrubbing paraphernalia.
5) Always conclude by rinsing the detergents and residues clean. If you leave a dirty solution to rest on the surface, the stain will likely re-emerge, and it can be difficult to remove.
6) Avoid many stains by immediately wiping the stains clean.
