How to Protect Your Carpeting Floors when Moving in Manteca, CA; Temporary Carpet Floor Protection & More

When you are in the middle of a move, the last thing you may be thinking about is your carpet. However, if you aren’t careful, you could end up with carpet that is completely ruined. This can be a big deal when you are planning on getting a deposit back, or have to pay to have carpet replaced because you didn’t do your part in protecting it. Luckily, Carpet Care 2000 is here to share some tips that will help you keep your carpet clean even when there are movers walking in and out a thousand times through the process.

Use Cardboard Boxes for Temporary Floor Protection

Heaven only knows that you will likely have cardboard coming out your ears if you are in the middle of moving. One way to use excess cardboard to your benefit is to put it down on the carpet. When you make a few cuts and lay it out as flat as it can go, you can cover a decent amount of space with large boxes. You can even cut them down to size and put some tape on them to keep them in place while they are being walked on. This is one of the cheapest and most effective ways to keep those carpets clean during a move.

Old Blankets & Comforters Floor Protection

Another option to keep your carpet protected is to use old sheets and even blankets to lay down and cover the carpet. Again, you may want to put a little tape on them to keep them from moving around as people come and go. Some people have leftover moving blankets that can be used in walkways, and you don’t have to worry about damaging them.

Rolled Plastic Adhesive Carpet Protector

If you really want to have your carpet protected, you can purchase a roll of plastic that has an adhesive on the back of it. This adhesive is strong enough that it keeps that plastic from moving during your move. While this can be somewhat costly to purchase enough to cover all the walkways in your entire house, it is one that you can absolutely count on. This plastic is used in many commercial settings where construction and other projects may be taking place; so you don’t have to worry about it not working in your home during a move.

Using Mats During a Move

During a move, it is important that you have mats at all the entrances into the home. They should be large enough that the first four steps taken end up on the mat. This will do wonders in removing dirt and debris from the bottom of shoes.
