Another option to keep your carpet protected is to use old sheets and even blankets to lay down and cover the carpet. Again, you may want to put a little tape on them to keep them from moving around as people come and go. Some people have leftover moving blankets that can be used in walkways, and you don’t have to worry about damaging them.
 

Rolled Plastic Adhesive Carpet Protector

If you really want to have your carpet protected, you can purchase a roll of plastic that has an adhesive on the back of it. This adhesive is strong enough that it keeps that plastic from moving during your move. While this can be somewhat costly to purchase enough to cover all the walkways in your entire house, it is one that you can absolutely count on. This plastic is used in many commercial settings where construction and other projects may be taking place; so you don’t have to worry about it not working in your home during a move.
 

Using Mats During a Move

During a move, it is important that you have mats at all the entrances into the home. They should be large enough that the first four steps taken end up on the mat. This will do wonders in removing dirt and debris from the bottom of shoes.
