How to Remove Fresh Coffee Spills & Old Stubborn Coffee Stains from Carpet & Fabric Upholstery in Danville, CA

One of the most difficult stains to remove from carpet is the regrettable coffee stain. Coffee is well known to be a major staining substance that often leaves a permanent blemish on your carpets. When carpets develop coffee stains, many homeowners fear they will be stuck with the stain forever. However, there are some ways to remove coffee stains. If you accidentally spill coffee on your carpets, Carpet Care 2000 will share how you can remove the coffee stain or where to find professional help.

Are Coffee Stains on Carpet or Upholstery Permanent?

Many people hear how coffee stains are permanent, but this isn’t completely true. Using the right methods and by taking the right steps, coffee stains can be removed from the carpets. When spills occur it is important to react quickly. The fresher the stain is, the easier it will be to remove.

How to Remove Coffee Spills from Carpet or Couch

Once a coffee spill has happened, quickly grab a cloth, and begin blotting at the spill. Use the cloth to absorb as much of the coffee as possible. Never rub at the stain. You will want to gently blot up the liquid from the coffee spill. After blotting at the coffee, pour cold water to dilute the coffee some more. Blot at the water and help remove more of the coffee in the carpet. After blotting at the spill, next you will want to apply a stain remover. If you don’t have a carpet stain remover on hand, you can make your own. Mix one tablespoon of liquid dish soap with one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. With a clean cloth, dip it into the cleaning mixture and blot at the stain. To prevent spreading the coffee stain, you will want to begin cleaning along the edges of the stain. Start on the outside of the stain and work your way inward to the center. Blot with a dry cloth to remove the moisture in the carpet. Once the stain is gone it is important to rinse the site with cold water. Pour cold water on the stain and once again blot with a dry cloth until most of the moisture is adsorbed into the cloth and out of the carpet. Again, avoid rubbing the site as it will damage the carpet and cause it to flatten.

How to Clean an Old Coffee Stain

If you have coffee stains that are old they can become much harder to remove. However, you will essentially repeat the same steps as you would a fresh stain. You will need to start by applying warm water over the old stain to help loosen up the coffee in the carpet. Follow the same steps as before to remove the stain. If the coffee stain doesn’t come out then consider a professional carpet cleaning service. A professional service will have strong carpet cleaning solvents that can remove those tougher stains, including coffee stains in carpets.
