If you are hosting holiday parties you probably have a list of things to get done before all of your guests arrive. One thing that is likely on your to do list is get your home nice and clean. The hard thing about hosting is that your home may start out nice and clean but end up completely dirty before your guests leave. Hopefully your guests do not make too big of a mess though. One mess that many hosts find after holiday dinners is grease on carpet. Unfortunately many finger and other party foods are greasy and may end up on your carpet. Today Carpet Care 2000 is going to help give you some tips on how to get rid of these grease stains.

Best Grease Remover for Carpet

The first method that we will share with you today requires a dull knife, baking soda, and a vacuum. First you will want to take the dull knife and try to scrape as much of the grease off of your carpet as your can. You will want to scrape very gently so that you do not damage your carpet. After you have removed as much of the grease as possible you will need to grab your baking soda. Sprinkle some baking soda on the stained area. Then you want to leave the baking soda on the stained area for a minimum of one hour and a maximum of overnight. As the baking soda sits on the stain it will absorb the grease. The baking soda will also eliminate any odors that are on your carpet. Once you have allowed the baking soda to sit on your carpet you are going to get your vacuum and thoroughly vacuum the area. You will want to vacuum slowly and repeatedly. After you have vacuum you will want to clean any residue that might be left on the carpet using clean water and clean white cloth. If you do not have baking soda you can also use the same method outlined above but use cornstarch instead. The only downside is that cornstarch will not absorb the odors as well as baking soda will. Other than the process will work the same.

Other Methods for How to Get Grease Stains Out of Carpet

Other studies have reported that dish soap and vinegar work as well. The first step will be to use a dull knife to scrape as much grease as possible off of your carpet. Then you will mix some dish soap and vinegar together. Try this mixture out first in an area of carpet that is not noticeable. Vinegar may bleach out your carpet. If it does discontinue this method. If the mixture is fine on your carpet go ahead and move to the stained area. Spray it on the area and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Then use a clean white cloth and blot the area gently. Repeat until the stain comes out.
