Removing Red Cranberry Juice & Sauce Stains from Carpet or Upholstery in Altamont, CA

The Holidays are going to be in there the blink of an eye, soon we will all be celebrating and giving thanks in the best way possible. With food, family and friends! No matter how you celebrate or who you celebrate with, the Holidays are always a time to remember. Cranberries are a very popular fruit and are apart of people’s holidays everywhere. Whether you drink it in juice form or put cranberry sauce on your turkey plate, one thing remains the same, if a spill happens, it can be scary! Nobody wants to see a huge red stain on their favorite couch, carpet or area rug. Is all lost? Or is there something you can do about it? Never fear, Carpet Care 2000 is here to give you the tricks of the trade for your best bet of removing these stubborn stains. Cranberries produce a plant stain called tannin, which can be difficult to remove. The quicker you act, the easier the stain will be to remove, the longer the stain is able to sit the less likely you are to get the stain out.

Supplies Needed to Remove Cranberry Stains

You will need
1: Dull butter knife (If it was sauce that spilled)
2: Clean white cloth x3
3: Oxygen-based bleach (Oxi-clean, OXO Brite etc.)
4: Bowl with clean cool water
5: Vacuum Cleaner

How to Get Dried Cranberry Juice & Stains Out of Carpet & Sofas

Step 1: Using your dull knife, gently lift away any solids that may be in the affected area. Don’t push too hard or rub either of the stains, this will grind the coloring even deeper into the carpet or furniture making it almost impossible to remove.
Step 2: Using your clean cloth, gently blot up as much of the liquid as possible. Be sure to use a clean part of the rag with each pass to avoid reintroducing the stain back to the affected area.
Step 3: To remove the dye from the stain, mix your oxygen-based bleach solution with cool water according to the manufacturer’s directions. Then, using a new, clean cloth, dip the cloth into the cleaning solution and work the stain from the outside edge in to avoid spreading the stain further. Blot, blot, blot, NEVER RUB! Only apply as much is needed, you don’t want to over saturate the carpet or furniture. Over saturating furniture can lead to mildew growth down the line. Allow the oxygen-based bleach solution to work its magic by allowing it to sit on the stain for about 30 minutes.
Step 4: After 30 minutes time, using a dry, clean cloth, blot away any remaining moisture. There is no need to rinse away the solution because oxygen-based bleach turns into water in just a few short hours. Allow the stain enough time to dry completely. If the stain is still visible, you can repeat these steps until it is gone.
Step 5: After the area has completed drying, vacuum the carpet or upholstery to fluff the fibers back up to its original state.
