How to Clean & Remove Ink Stains From Carpet & Rugs in Danville CA? WD-40, Hairspray & Rubbing Alcohol?

If you have had a pen break in your home and seen the ink drain out onto your carpet you probably were sent into a severe panic. Most people have no idea what to do. If you start to rub at it the stain will spread out, if you leave it there the stain will set in. Some people believe there is no hope and the only choice that you have is to move a piece of furniture or rug over the spot. Fortunately, there is hope … and a few tricks that you can try to remove the stain yourself. These tricks are not always going to work but you can give them a try. The best way to ensure that a stain is removed is to contact a carpet cleaning company to treat the area and clean the rest of the carpets and rugs too.

Carpet Care 2000 has a few tricks you can try to remove an ink stain from your carpet or rug.

WD- 40 Carpet Stain Removal: If you want to try this process, you can go to a store like a super center or car repair store to pick up a can of WD-40. This is a product that is used as a lubricant but has been proven to help in stain removal as well. You want to use the spray carefully to be sure to not get it on the areas that are not stained! Spray the WD-40 on the spot and you will need to allow it to sit up for about 15 – 20 minutes. After this you will need to use some soapy water to pick up the stain and the WD-40 at the same time. Always be sure to use a nice clean cloth and dab or blot never rub the affected area.
Hairspray Can Help Get Rid of Ink Stains on Carpet: If you want to try a different approach to removing the ink stain you can try using your everyday hairspray. Take the hairspray and spray it on the stain and allow it to sit for only about two minutes. Once you have allowed it to sit you can use soapy water to saturate the area and blot the area really well. This should get the stain out of the carpet and take the hairspray out too.
Rubbing Alcohol Can Pull Ink Stains Out of Carpet: You can try this method which is a little bit easier and will not need to be sprayed on the area. You want to soak the edge of your clean cloth with rubbing alcohol and dab at the ink spot. The alcohol will help to remove the ink and pull it into the cloth. Make sure you use a clean spot on the rag often to ensure you are not spreading the ink stain out.
