Know Bare Floor to High Pile Vacuum Settings
Every vacuum is a little bit different. If you have gotten a new vacuum recently, you should read up on it to ensure you know how your new vacuum works. For most vacuums, there are several different settings that you can set your vacuum to that will give it the best chance at cleaning your carpet effectively. Most vacuums come with three different settings.
– Low Pile Setting: If you have carpet that is flat, like is found in many commercial settings, you will need to put your vacuum on the low pile setting. This means that the beater bars are lower so that they can still make contact with the carpet fibers.
– High Pile Setting: This is the setting used more in residential settings. Carpet in homes usually has a higher pile and the beater bars need to be up higher so that they don’t damage the carpet fibers when the vacuum in on.
– Hard Floor Setting: If you have hard floors that you are wanting to vacuum, you will want to switch to that setting so that your beater bars aren’t moving at all. This will simply suck any debris found on your floors so that the debris doesn’t get thrown all over the floor rather than removed from it.
Can You Vacuum Too Often?
You should be vacuuming the carpet in your home at a minimum of once a week. Vacuuming your carpet more often will help to remove the fine dirt and dust that often settles into your carpet fibers. If this fine dirt and dust is left on your carpet, it will start to break down your carpet much sooner than carpet that is kept clean. When you are vacuuming your carpet, consider vacuuming in several different directions to get the best results. You should also take your time when you vacuum your carpet. If you are moving too fast, your vacuum isn’t capable of removing as much dirt and dust from the fibers.
