If you have kids they are likely on summer break. Having this time off of school gives your kids a long summer break from their hard studying and extra curricular activities. There are wonderful things that come with summertime. Being able to spend time hanging out with your kids, going on vacations, and relaxing are all benefits of summer break. Along with all the fun come more messes to clean up though. Some of the items that kids spill on your carpet are not that hard to get out as long as you work on them right away. Other things are not quite as easy to get out of your carpet though. One thing that you might need to know how to clean up this summer is red Kool-Aid. The good news is that Carpet Care 2000 has some excellent tips for you on how to get Kool-Aid out of your carpet.
Treat Kool Aid Carpet Spill Right Away
One of the most important things that you need to do is make sure that you get moving right away once the Kool-Aid is spilled. The longer that the Kool-Aid sits on your carpet the harder the stain is to get out. Make sure that your kids always know that they need to come and get you as soon as they have any spills. Immediately take some paper towels and soak up as much Kool-Aid as possible. Then move on to one of the following methods.
Remove Kool Aid Stains from Carpet with Carbonated Club Soda
There are several different things that you can try to get that Kool-Aid stain out. One option that frequently works well is club soda. Simply take the club soda and pour it onto the stain area. You will want to pour a pretty decent amount onto the area. You will want to make sure that your club soda is not flat. Part of what makes this method work is the fizz from the carbonation. Let the club soda sit on the stain and fizz for a few minutes. Then get a clean dry towel and blot the stain up. You will want to repeat this step until the stain is completely gone.
Get Kool Aid Stains Out of Carpet with Dishwashing Liquid
If you do not have club soda sitting around you can try this next method. Get one cup of warm water and mix it with ½ teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent. Grab a clean white cloth and use it to apply the solution to the affected area. You will want to blot it onto your carpet instead of rubbing it. Rubbing the carpeted area will only make the stain sink deeper into the carpet. Repeat this process with a new cloth until the stain is gone.
Sometimes we are not fortunate enough to catch the spill right away. If the Kool-Aid has time to set in you will probably have to use a more aggressive method. You can try some water and vinegar. Mix 2 cups of water with 1 cup of white vinegar. Just like with the water and liquid dishwashing detergent you will want to take a clean white cloth and bot the mixture onto the stain. Repeat as necessary.
